About Our Ministry
As career missionaries with the Assemblies of God
Locally, we becames members of the mother church in
During our first 18 months in Spain we worked in the church plant in Reus, mentoring the new, young pastor and ministering in all capacities. In May 2007 we moved to Cambrils for the purpose of pioneering a mission church. Cambrils (approximate population of 35,000, which doubles during the summer months due to tourism) had only one small evangelical church, which is among the gypsy culture.
We began a Bible study in our apartment with only a handful the first Tuesday night June, 2007. We outgrew our living room and, in November 2007, we began meeting in a small, rented conference room of a local hotel.
On March 2, 2008 we also began Sunday morning worship services in the same hotel, thereby transitioning into a mission church. We looked for permanent place to rent. After much opposition from local government and property owners, we finally signed a contract for rental property on November 25, 2008.
We began work on the facility and started meeting there for our mid-week Bible studies. We held our first Sunday morning service there on March 15, 2009. On August 30, 2009 we officially turned the church over to the new pastor.
God's grace strengthened us and sustained this work and continues to do so. Today El Centro Crisitano, La Esperanza is a vibrant, spirit-filled group of about 50 and continues to grow.
We returned to Texas on furlough in Septrmber 2009. Our plan is to return to another town in Spain that needs an Assembly of God church in October 2010 and start planting another new church.
